Stormy Takeoff by British Airways 747-400 from Cape Town Video
At a second attempt British Airways 747-400 (Registration : G-CIVJ) takes off from a very wet and stormy Cape Town bound for London Heathrow. The previous takeoff a couple of minutes earlier was aborted for unknown reasons. (See here :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76nYXZQtZ6M)

No problem that time. And the takeoff roll was not that long, about 40 seconds max. Great effort? in filthy conditions.

This is such a rare ...
This is such a rare event as to be ignored. Takeoffs get aborted VERY rarely, and can simply be because an engine oil pressure wasn't quite right, or some whacky indicator? light came on. Not a big deal. Aborted takeoffs, go-arounds, all very routine. Nothing to get excited about. If it had been a SERIOUS problem, they would not have attempted a second take-off in the same plane.
No problem :)?

After the rejected takeoff, Did you get scared when you found out? you were gonna attempt to takeoff again with the same aircraft? :P
The take off abort ...
The take off abort could have been due to any number of trivial non critical things and, given the bad weather, the pilot elected to play safe? and delay the take off for a few minutes.
I have flown BA to Australia many times and am not aware of a single incident on any of their flights.
bad takeoff ...
bad takeoff configuration, an alarm sounds then? the takeoff is rejected and they have to correct the missconfiguration....

why it? was rejected?
@QuantumStates, not ...
@QuantumStates, not really. That's a myth. Also it mostly depends on? how one drives, where they go and many other factors. If the engine burns up or it stalls, everyone is dead. In a car if something goes wrong you can usually just coast to a stop. And if you drive around a quiet town at 25 mph to the grocery store, chances are decent you'll be fine. But with an airplane, 30,000 feet can quickly become zero.
Finally, whats the ...
Finally, whats the reason of? the rejected take off?
Just remember that ...
Just remember that you're? hundreds of times safer in one of these big machines than you are in your car!
